Third National Latino Congreso Promotes Agenda for Justice

In mid July Latino leaders from across the nation gathered in Los Angeles to review, critique and strategize on the current condition of Latinos in the U.S.
In its third year, this national organization of delegates representing more than 300 organizations conferred on critical issues impacting Latinos, clustered into five areas: 1. justice for immigrants, 2. the economy, 3. our broken educational system, 4. health care for all, and 5. the disastrous Iraq war.
An estimated 1500 attended this unique gathering where farmworkers, day laborers-some speaking through interpreters-dialogued with legislators, academics, activists and advocates in "town hall" sessions on Energy, Climate Change, Public Health Access, Jobs, Justice for Immigrants, Trade and Foreign Policy, Public Education, Community Development and Poverty, Civil Rights and Voting Rights.
