Oscar D'León Resume
The king of Salsa was born July 11, 1943. From the beginning Oscar d'León was influenced by the greatest musicians of Cuban music, especially Benny More and the Sonora Matancera. Oscar formed his first orchestra on March 15, 1973 the "La Dimesion Latina". The first record recorded by Oscar and his first hit was "Pensando En Ti". Four years later he formed "La Salsa Mayor" which has been his orchestra ever since. In 1977 Oscar d'León recorded his first album with his orchestra "La Salsa Major". In 1978 Oscar traveled for the first time to New York. Today his name and his music are recognized internationally from Japan to Europe and including the United States.
Oscar is an extraordinary entertainer. When he is on stage his charisma and rhythmic dance moves drive his audience wild. He captivates his fans with his many dance moves including one where he dances with a cello. He is as smooth on his feet as Fred Astaire was in his days.
Oscar d'León has recorded over fifty albums. He was nominated for a Grammy in 1989. He has been welcomed by the City Council of both New York City, 1988, and Los Angeles, 1992.
