Argelia Atilano Resume
KVEA-TV, Channel 52 news reporter, Argelia Atilano joined Noticiero Telemundo 52 in 1997, and has since then been recognized by the Hispanic community as one of the youngest, freshest and most vivacious reporters in greater Los Angeles.
Atilano's broadcasting career has rapidly covered virtually all feature stories throughout her two-year career in Southern California. Whe first arrived, Atilano introduced the weekly segments on Noticiero Telemundo 52 titled "Generación X," (Generation X) and most recently "Navegando el Internet" (Exploring the Internet) where she gives tips on how the internet can be most useful for you.
Prior to joining KVEA-TV, Atilano conducted extensive research and translated and transcribed material in the History and Modern Languages Department at Loyola Marymount University.
While studying, Atilano prepared herself at numerous television and radio internship programs in Los Angeles. In 1995 she assisted the newsroom at CBS-TV, Channel 2 producing, directing and camera directing. Thereafter, Atilano accepted another internship opportunity at KABC-TV, Channel 7 as special projects producer and newsroom assistant. In 1996 she worked at KLRA, 1110 AM and KLSX 87.1 FM where she prepared and planned promotional events for both radio stations.
Atilano has actively taken role in numerous community events relating to youth and young women such as: the 23rd Annual National Hispanic Women's Conference organized by the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation where she served as a panelist; NALEO's Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference; and most recently, the Los Angeles Reading Festival.
Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Los Angeles from Mexican immingrant parents, Atilano received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and Spanish Literature from Loyola Marymount University.
